    Ezio let Rodrigo live because we needed a storyline for the second game. I think it’s as simple as that. No character motivation took any part in this decision.

    Your critiques have been nothing short of well-written, entertaining, and informing. I especially enjoy the historical tangents, providing context for the people the creators were attempting to recreate and how they fit into this game. Thank you for this and all your other videos!

    46:28 I've been playing Survival and all I can think about it is...........I miss fast travel, yes its nice to look at the scenery but man backtracking is a bitch especially when having to go up to high hrothgar. The one thing I do wish they would do with each new release of Skyrim is add back in all the shit they cut to begin with so every time the story would get better and more grand.

  • @rockowlgamer631
    @rockowlgamer631 День назад

    37:05 Whereas in Oblivion that shit was terrible, losing health constantly while outside in the sun. Maybe Dawnguard should've been in Oblivion instead so then it would make more sense lol. 59:10 What difficulty did you play this on exactly? Cause I'm sure Master/Legendary difficulty would say otherwise you do Dawnguard straight away instead of finishing the main game. 1:00:00 Also if necessary you could go to the companions to overwrite the vampire form with the werewolf form and then go destroy a glamoir witch head to get rid of the werewolf form. Ta-da. 1:04:33 No wonder you said this was easy, going full stealth archer and skill grinding without even doing anything. 1:05:15 My guess is that he wanted to kill you himself, that or he was in a rage when he came back to Tamriel from the time warp and decided to attack the first town he saw. 1:21:34 I feel like this phrase could be a meme lol 1:42:45 Cause unfortunately you expected too much from Bethesda, if you wanted richer story then Obsidian gives you that in spades when it comes to their games. Thankfully mods can solve these issues.

    The only reason i prefer the stormcloaks is because the current government allows foreign agents to kidnap and torture private citizens. I am not a fan of the way a lot of people mix their feeling regarding real racism with elder scrolls. You have to admit that both sides are incredibly muddied morally. Defending your real life values is admirable. I am glad you dislke racism, you should. But the stormcloak issue is not so simple if analysed without bias.

    Glad to see the first game getting some attention. Despite its flaws, it was always my favorite. To my young mind, it was the perfect blend of history, philosophy, sci-fi, and stabbing that came around at just the time I was becoming interested in those things.

    Dude this analysis was such a breath of fresh air! I love Oblivion and hearing your takes about what works, and how lots of content and the use of the setting was also such a missed opportunity was great. I love a good hero story and I don't think they needed to reinvent the wheel with Oblivion, but MAN they really didn't do anything with what they had for the main quest. I still love it, but its still a tad disappointing.

    tl:dr a good dnd game has a sussy empire and thats fun to play in. I will nevwr forged my 'face' fighter who was an imperial noble samurai fighter with a missing father just lounging alone in an estate in the imperial city. A blade agent was digging up dirt on my dad, and I succesfully lied to her that there was 'nothing here but our legacy' she left before properly investigating an area of the estate that would have incriminated the family. Cyrodil is a great roleplaying environment. I reccommend the firmament blog homebrew, play it in dnd. At least then a goblin, usually, never has scaling hp...

    I think I know what game mechanic would have fixed Harkon's motivation and obsession with the Tyranny of the Sun: **Making the Vampire Lord transformation lose HP to sunlight** Imagine. The Vampire Lord already has no time limit, you can turn it on and off whenever you like. He obvioulsy values this form a lot, as in the final battle he transforms directly without taking any chances. Why would making this transformation lose HP during the day matter? Because it would re-contextualize Harkon's real motivation. As Serana stated, her parents became drunk with power. Harkon used the Vampire Lord as his first weapon of choice before resolting to a Katana, but in this gameplay scenario he wouldn't be able to use it 24/7. Therefore, he wouldn't feel completely safe, as once he died his soul would go to Coldharbour, which isn't the most pleasant afterlife. Therefore, his motivation would now be even more selfish, but in order to gain support would disguise it as "a cause of the greater good of all vampires" (and let's be honest, how many real-life dictators do that?). Not a single line of dialogue would have to be changed. That game mechanic would recontextualize Harkon's cause, born from his obsession with power. What do you think?

    I think you nailed why I didn’t really enjoy the story all that much. The developers pretty much have one «correct» narrative path and if you find yourself choosing the other options it just ends up being a story about nothing.

    And Stormcloaks would not allow a non Nord to join them, Ulfric and his number one are prejudiced against other races. Might allow a Breton or Imperial but certainly not an Elf, Argonion or Kharjit. Civil war definitely needs more fleshing out.

    Excellent analysis! You analyzed the Stormcloaks really well. It is hard to take them seriously, or think of them as any more than Mustache-Twirling villains when they openly and proudly call people slurs, and beat around the bush about what they actually believe. I remember when I played the game when it first came out; I was still in middle school. I sided with the Stormcloaks because it seemed right, and all the bigotry flew right over my head. Playing through it again as an adult, it is horrifying to see how real-to-life the bigotry of the Stormcloaks is in their quest to “Make Skyrim Great Again”. Even more horrifying is how little care is given to their beliefs by the game itself; all racists go to heaven. I can only hope that if Elder Scrolls VI does come out, it really IS around a decade from now, even though it has been 13 years since Skyrim released. The people who care enough about this game to write multiple essays analyzing its amateur-at-best and accidentally-pro-racism at worst narrative deserve a story worth analysis. If time is what it needed to deliver that, then may my Great-Grand children see it released as they breathe their final breath. Keep up the good work, Duke of the Whales :) - a fan of analysis

    Fantastic analysis! Loved it :D The amateur writing examined here is a big reason why I just don’t care about any in-game stories at all; investment in the story and role play elements is punished by the poor writing. Instead, I focus on the atmosphere, and role play elements that can be induced outside of the actual stories and dialogue. My best success with this has been with Wildlander, a Skyrim mod list curated by Dylan Perry. If anyone has any interest in modded Skyrim, I strongly recommend checking Wildlander out. It manages to create an RPG out of Skyrim.

    I mean.. in Elder Scrolls universe an apocalypse is not really that big of a deal, it's entirely possible to survive through as many of them as you want, Redguards being the best example of it. Maybe Greybeards just know about it and that's why they don't fret much about another one coming?

    1:01:22 I've only watched the movies but even in the movie the cinematography makes it very obvious that Deagol ans Smeagol are meant to be precious best friends and that's why it's tragic and the dissonance between the cinematography and the brutal murder makes the corrupting power of the ring very apparant.

    Hell in the elder scrolls would be the soul carin I love that line the ignorance of the centuries we see this in the whiterun guard saying the dragon's haven't been seen in forever that's not true we know that's not true the empire has a dragon his name was Nafaalilargus guy was an A hole and he's technically still alive his soul was never taken so if he doesn't show up in elder scrolls 6 I will be sad. Also the elder scroll sent alduin in to the future maybe for him it's only been days or minutes he's not trying to end the world maby are goal is to end him so he can end the world in the future
